“Bridging Theory and Practice. A European Strategic. Approach to International Cultural Relations: The state of the art”

EUNIC in partnership with the University of Siena will organise the second Siena Cultural Relations Forum in Siena from the 26th to the 29th of June 2019. This event will bring cultural relations policy makers and practitioners together with academics and researchers in an attempt to bridge the gaps between the theory, policy and practice of the EU’s international cultural relations.

In four workstreams the programme will cover topics central to the recent development and implementation of the EU Strategic Approach to International Cultural Relations:

  • Workstream I – Progress report on the implementation of the Administrative Arrangement between EUNIC, European Commission and European External Action Service, and next steps
  • Work stream II – Closing event “CReW: Cultural Relations at Work”. Project results on the three strands of the Joint Communication “Towards an EU strategy for international cultural relations”
  • Workstream III – Partners and principles of EU cultural relations: Looking at the inclusivity regarding partners and local stakeholders as well as the “how” of the implementation of the EU’s strategic approach to international cultural relations
  • Workstream IV – What is the future of the EU’s international cultural relations? Exploring the next action points on the implementation of the Joint Communication and the Council Conclusions on International Cultural Relations.

The event is a seminar format with each participant expected to contribute and share their knowledge and insights.
